Approximately fifty vehicles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Cars, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.
Police state they were notified during the night on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.
The substance had been applied in the form of a banned symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then found many other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws banning the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials report early analysis show the liquid was likely human blood.
"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; authorities are not yet informed of any harm in connection with the occurrence," they added.
City officials announced they were trying "to unravel the case" and have requested to the residents for tips.
A senior political figure commented the vandalism left him without words and required to be solved quickly.
"This act affects the center of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he wrote on social media, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a gunman focusing on people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
